By accessing or using Linchpin ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.

2. Description of Service

Linchpin is a dependency management tool that helps developers analyze and manage npm package dependencies. Our Service includes web-based scanning, CLI tools, and alert notifications for package updates.

3. User Accounts

  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • One person or entity may not maintain multiple free accounts

4. Subscription Plans and Payments

Free Plan:

Basic scanning features with limited history (last 5 scans).

Day Pass ($4.99):

24-hour access to premium features including deep analysis. Access expires exactly 24 hours after purchase.

Pro Annual ($29/year):

Full access to all features including unlimited scan history, package alerts, and priority support.

Payment Terms:

  • All payments are processed securely through Stripe
  • Prices are in USD unless otherwise stated
  • Annual subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled

5. Refund Policy

Day Pass: No refunds due to the immediate nature of access.

Pro Annual: You may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase if you have not used premium features. After 14 days, refunds are prorated based on remaining subscription time.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Upload malicious code or content
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without permission
  • Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the Service
  • Circumvent usage limits or access controls

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by Linchpin and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Your package.json files and scan results remain your property.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. We do not guarantee that our analysis will identify all security vulnerabilities or breaking changes. You are responsible for testing updates in your own environment before deploying to production.

9. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL LINCHPIN BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months.

10. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance when possible.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may cancel your account at any time through your dashboard or by contacting support. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes via email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
